Spectrum Foam Stick II Water Base Adhesive Foam Cement

September 1, 2017 By Alejandro Medina

Throughout several visits made to different foam manufacturers in Southern California, we have found some establishments are required to use only water based adhesives on their fabrication process. Fire regulations, insurance policies or City Permits play a role in the decision making when using solvents vs non solvents, not only for adhesives, but for cleaners, primers, paints etc.

Spectrum Foam Stick II is a new generation of modified synthetic latex designed to replace solvent based adhesives in spray applications for many foam-bonding constructions. Foam Stick II provides good green strength within 5-10 seconds after application. This product will give foam-tearing bonds with 10-20 minutes. Foam Stick II will bond foam to itself, wood, metals and plastic materials.

Tensorgrip P307 and Tensorgrip P313 (Air Assisted Application)

February 16, 2017 By Alejandro Medina

Tensorgrip P307 and P313 adhesives although very similar, have different attributes which are important to know so the user can get the most out of them.

Tensorgrip P307 is a “do it all” CA compliant adhesive with a long open working time and high heat resistance, since it’s pressurized, dispensing is easy and simple. There is hardly any overspray which translates to  close to 90% of the glue landing on the substrates. User can easily switch nozzle tips between 40º, 65° and 95° spraying tip angles.[Read More]

The standard in the Piñata Industry

November 23, 2016 By Steve Bayliff

standard piñata adhesives

Over the past 25 years, V&S 581, Foam & Fabric Spray Adhesive has become the standard for the piñata industry.

It is the quality product manufacturers seek when they want only the best for creating their product.  581 is fast, yet offers the perfect open time for applying the many layers of paper, etc. when making piñatas.

Yet, 581 will “stand up” on the surface without undue “bleed through” allowing users the benefit of creating sufficient bonds.

581 – THE ONLY CHOICE!

Are Canisters More Effective?

November 23, 2016 By Steve Bayliff

canister-smallDid you know, canisters are the most economical way to apply adhesives?

Their transfer efficiency (how much adhesive actually goes on the surface) is close to 95%.  That’s right.  Almost all the adhesive you have purchased goes on the substrates you’re trying to bond.

Let’s compare that 95% to “other” methods of application.

Rolling or brushing

Rolling or brushing on adhesive is a sure way to get the surface 100% covered.  BUT, typically you’re putting down WAY too much.

Spraying

Spraying has been, for years, the most economical method of application.  BUT, a lot is lost into the atmosphere as air is used to atomize the adhesive.  Spraying solvent based adhesives offers about 75% transfer efficiency.  Spraying a water based product offers only about 25% transfer efficiency.

Canisters

Canisters are the most economical method  AND they are portable.  No outside air source is needed.

Adhesives: Solvent vs. Water Based

November 16, 2016 By Steve Bayliff

Solvent Based – Flammable/Non-Flammable

For many years the majority of adhesives were manufactured exclusively with hydrocarbon solvents, i.e. acetone, benzene, hexane, toluene, etc. These solvents were perfectly suited for dissolving various rubbers and resins to create the “perfect” emulsion that allowed these adhesives to be sprayed efficiently. As a result, these adhesives dry very quickly.[Read More]
